The Heritage Garden offers twenty-four plots exclusively for the benefit of Henry County's senior citizens aged 55 years and above. However, this beautiful garden is open for the enjoyment and appreciation of all visitors to Heritage Park.

Our senior gardeners maintain the garden site and grow food for their tables. Spring and winter gardens are planted each year. Both plantings are beautiful and yield nutritious vegetables year round. The gardeners focus on growing nutritious food and plant a wide range of seeds and transplants; some heirloom plants are grown depending on the gardeners' preference.

Created in 2003, this lovely garden is Community Garden's flagship plot. It was featured on the 2008 Master Gardener's Tour.

From the McDonough square:

• Travel east on Keys Ferry Street (Highway 81 East).
• Continue on Highway 81 approximately 2 miles
  (you will pass the McDonough Public Library and Heritage Senior Center on the left).
• Take left onto Lake Dow Road (a McDonald's will be on the corner).
• Entrance to Heritage Park is approximately ¼ mile on left.
